We had very short-quick trip to Wadi and Kolhapur….here are details
19 July 2012
@6.30am: Mahalaxmi express was late by 30 minutes, when we reached @ Miraj junction. Went to bus stand by walk. Bus to Wadi was @ 7.15am.
@8.15-30am: We reached Wadi. Bus was for Kurundawad, this place is just 10 minutes from Wadi bus stand. Went straight to temple Bhakta nivas office to get any room. Got a room for Rs: 200/-. Room was quite big with few necessary items like pillows, mattresses though we were never going to use any items. We kept our belongings and went to Krishna Ghat to have a holy dip.
The water was all muddy due to monsoon season. When I entered just 2 steps inside the water, I thought something bites my fingers. I moved to another place but the same happened. I was terrified but came to know by people taking bath that there were fish who bites and also warned me not to go ahead after 2-3 steps if I do not know to swim. I did a quick dip for 3 times and finished my holy bath. Pallavi also finished her bath at the other end of the Ghat. We performed Abhishek to Lord Dattatraya.
@10.15am: We started pradakshina around the temple and finished 108 pradakshina in 1.30-45 minutes. Went to prasadalaya and had Prasad consists of dal, rice, potato subji and wheat halwa. The prasadalaya is in the same building of the new Bhakta nivas. We packed our things and gave the keys to the attendant. He gave all ok then went to Bhakta nivas office and collected our deposit Rs: 200/-.
@ 1-15pm : We then relished “Basundi“, the famous sweet of Wadi. It was more like “Rabdi”. We hired an auto to visit Amareshwar Temple, as Pallavi was tired. The temple is just about 0.5 kms from the Dattatraya temple and you can walk easily. Amareshwar temple is exactly opposite to Lord Dattatraya temple, separated by Krishna River. It’s like Omkareshwar and Mamleshwar temple on either side at Narmada Ghat.
The Amareshwar temple has 64 Yogini temple inside the complex. According to this reference http://www.shaktipeethas.org/panchasat/topic191.html , this temple is one of the Shaktipeeth among 52 Shaktipeeths. We then went to the place, where Shri Dattatraya removed beans tree from a farmer’s house, where the farmer found gold. This story is part of Shri Guru Charitra. Now there is a temple in that home. Had darshan and went to bus stand.
@ 2pm: We started to Kolhapur, which is some 50kms from Wadi. Reached @4.15pm and took an auto to reach the Mahalaxmi temple. Kolhapur is also one of the Shaktipeeth among 52 Shaktipeeths. Kept all belongings in the locker adjacent to the temple, as sacks/bags were not allowed inside temple. They also said photos are not allowed. I do not know how people publish photos of interiors of temple.
We had darshan within 5 minutes or so…as it was odd season and an odd time. Rain was dripping throughout. We then asked for Shri Krishna Saraswati Math which is @ Kumbhar Galli. Went by walking, as the math is nearby the temple. Had good darshan. At this point, we had done what we planned to visit Wadi and Kolhapur. Then we roamed around for some time and then enquired about Kolhapur Misal, which is famous dish in Kolhapur. Everybody said we will get fresh Misal only in morning time but then one guy gave reference of Chorage Misal. We searched and went to the shop by walk. Relished Misal, though I never found it that fantastic.
@6pm: Took an auto and reached station. Rested for 30 minutes and went to hotel Gokul, which is nearby the station.
@8.30pm: Boarded Mahalaxmi…..reached Borivali by 8am or so.
