Shrikhand Mahadev – Kailash Yatra – Part1

After gap of 2 years, able to continue & complete one more Kailash yatra. In 2012, on the last moment needed to cancel Shrikhand Yatra & in 2013, due to rains in Kedarnath, every yatra was washed out, my planned Adi Kailash as well.

Was planning for amaranth this year, but due to “technical” reason, not able to register for Amarnath. So planned for Shrikhand this year, with one of my office friend. Shrikhand Kailash is one of the toughest Kailash

After doing lot of R&D, created schedule for our yatra. But at the end, it was changed as we reached there.

Mumbai – Delhi – Rampur – Nirmand – Bagipul – Jaon – Singhgad

Catched Duruntoo express from Mumbai, nothing new in journey 🙂 .

Reached New Delhi by 5pm. Catched metro to reach ISBT Kashmiri gate by 6pm. Bus was at 7.20pm. Started at 7.30pm. It was an AC bus. AC was working as well, never expected good (relative) 2*2 bus.

Reached Shimla @ 4.15am. After taking 2-3 on demand breaks by people (for natures calls 🙂 ), reached Rampur @ 8.30am. So it took 13hrs from Delhi to Rampur.

Waited for bus to Bagipul or Jaon. Encountered one group of 4 people going for Shrikhand Kailash. After introduction, they said, we can go together till Jaon. They realized that as it was Sunday, so there were very less bus service. We took one milk van till Tekadi (near Nirmand). Waited for few minutes and again catched one milk van to reach Jaon village.
We inquired for porters but local people and police at that site said, as of now no porters were available, but can get at Singhgad.

Jaon to Singhgad – 1 hrs
We started with our heavy bags @ 1.40pm, reached Singhgad by 2.30pm.

Rested with the first langar cum shelter. Had lunch of rice, dal, chana & kadhi pakode. Had hot water bath in 2-3 ltr water 🙂 . Inquired about porters they said 500 per day + 100 for lunch/dinner and rent for tents. We do not have any options. We thought to say yes in the evening. After bath we had a quick walk. On the way there were lot of shelters, langars. Government administration has registration counter, medical checkup counter.

In the evening, porter updated that new rate fixed by “committee” (?) was Rs: 600 per day + lunch/dinner + rent expenses. As planned, we agreed.

Also saw big shelter from Shrikhand Mahadev Seva Dal, one of the Trustees is Mr. Govindji Sharma. As we were really scared at first & uncertain due to non-availability of porters etc, we stayed in the very first langar else this sewa dal’s langar/place is too good (at that place). More on this Sewa Dal later….
